Statement of intent

How do you intend to use the four areas of theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? Product 1  In order to reach the requirements of the brief I was targeting for an age bracket of between 16-25 years old. As my own decision, I geared my magazine towards the female audience and targeted the higher end of the age bracket. With this in mind, the media language used had to suit the requirements of these individuals. Firstly, the colour scheme for my magazine were both pastel, this aimed for the culturally sophisticated audience type as they could interpret this as a latest trend; consequently, the pastel colours which I used were all linked to a specific colour scheme for each edition. Moreover, in order to hit this bracket I located my shoots in central Manchester- places which people up North would instantly recognise and the shot type enabled features such as company names- this further allowed individuals to understand mo...

Second edition- Contents page

Image
This is the final product for my contents page of my second edition. I have purposely chosen the colour blue in order to challenge stereotypical female poles. The shots on this page show dominance and authority- exaggerating the view that women are powerful and can be just as successful as men in society.

This is the final design for my second edition of Esteem. This edition has successfully targeted the dominant female audience of a higher demographic. This edition is all about female power and the changing position of women in the work environment, giving readers exclusive tips on how to feel good as yourself.

First edition- Contents page

This is my final design for my contents page of the first edition. I believe that I successfully promoted the designer looks to the target audience as they are designer yet casual. This creates the idea that you can still look good without having to look uncomfortable within your clothes and exaggerating the view that you should feel good and confident in whatever you would like to wear.

This is my final design for my non-examined assessment. Overall, I am glad with my finished product as it successfully promotes fashion to a younger yet sophisticated audience type- particularly those affected by the events of the Manchester attack. In particular I like the neon hints as it emphasises an in trend, fashionable feel.

Contact sheets

These are my contact sheets from my photo shoots. This process has allowed me to acknowledge what shots are the best and what I needed in my photos in order to create a perfect photo for my magazine. These photos were shot in various locations on a canon camera. Overall, I found that shooting my photos in lighter times of the day allowed me to gather in depth photos with good lighting. My darker shots did not acknowledge detail and consequently would not appeal to a sophisticated audience type.  If I was to change my photo- taking process, I would have chosen even more locations in order to focus on different types of lighting and shot types- at different angles. Using various locations would also have allowed me to explore the needs of different social groups.
