The Brief

The Brief
After considering all options, I decided to choose the third brief. This was;

 "You work for an independent media production company. You have been given the task of producing the front cover and one contents page for each of the first two editions of a new fashion magazine that is being launched by Bauer and the working website for the magazine. Bauer intends for the magazine to sell the magazine in retailers"

I decided that this brief was the correct option for me as I could develop my understanding of clever marketing skills and techniques. With the element of photography I believe that this was the correct option for me as I could develop a diverse range of skills. This task will further allow me to use my creative techniques and develop skills to promote to a wider audience type.

In particular this brief intended on me focusing on a culturally sophisticated, class AB demographic, this further allowed me to research this particular type of audience and what their interests and dislikes were. This would therefore allow me to create content which would be specifically suited to this audience. The company 'Bauer' was a reoccurring theme , which I therefore had to develop my knowledge on what this companies ideology was and what style they would like for a magazine. This included certain aspects such as a suitable Masthead and visuals, including the typography and logo. It was also asked for two different social groups to be included. It was therefore relevant that I had to research what different types of 'social groups' there are and what their interests were. I came to the conclusion that I would use two of my friends from work. One promoted a 'popular culture' in which designer brands were to be the central focal point, and the other to promote 'diversity and individuality' this meant that an individual style and character were to be portrayed. Overall, the research and planning part of my NEA became essential in order to find the correct setting and build a character for the magazine.
